No introduction needed for Robert Glasper. The Houston, Texas-born pianist has been breaking the boundaries between jazz, hip-hop, soul and rock for years. Collaborations with Jill Scott, Snoop Dogg and Norah Jones have made Robert Glasper one of the most sought-after names in the recording scene. With his band, the Robert Glasper Experiment, he’s won a Grammy for Best R&B Album in 2012. Many artists would consider this an absolute career highlight, yet for Glasper, it was just another step forward. Later on, he collaborated with one of hip-hops biggest names, Kendrick Lamar and wrote musical scores for the 2016 biopic Miles Ahead, about legendary trumpeter Miles Davis featuring music by Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock and Gary Clark Jr. Meanwhile he also won another Grammy, worked with Stevie Wonder and John Scofield. Glasper and his band improvise from one musical landslide to another with contagious energy during their thrilling live shows and has proven himself as a bannerman for a new generation of young jazz artists. His musical style is best described as a harmonious voyage through rhythms with urgency and perfectly executed musical ornaments which are never too many or too few. A not-to-be-missed concert for every hip-hop loving jazz enthusiast and vice versa!
