Full Swing Ahead! Big Bands emerged from the nightclubs of New Orleans for one purpose: To get feet tapping and hips swinging. We’re bringing the swing to Maastricht with The Big Band Night featuring The Jack Million Band, Lindy Hop dancers and the Mo Jones Big Band with special guest Jennie Lena!
20.00 The Jack Million Band is known as one of the best interpreters of classic ‘40s swing. From Sinatra to ballroom classics they can play virtually anything they put their minds to. Their technical precision and historical accuracy have earned them a reputation all over the world. In 2011 they were even inducted into the “Sally Bennet Big Band Hall of Fame”! Their spontaneity and enthusiasm are sure to amaze any music lover. Tonight will be an extra special performance because they integrate & play along with projections of the original Glenn Miller Orchestra, and are joined on stage by eight fantastic Lindy Hop live-dancers from Swing Out Maastricht.
21.30 The Mo Jones Big Band is a 20-piece, bonafide groove generator. At the center of this musical machine is singer and Hammond player Mo Jones. For more than 15 years he’s been the leader of some of the best musicians in Limburg. From the stages of North Sea Jazz and Pinkpop to local dance halls, Mo and his band fearlessly combine catchy melodies and steady rhythms to create a programme full of grooving tunes. As a special guest, they’ll be joined by “The Voice Of Holland” Finalist Jennie Lena. Jennie’s voice sounds more reminiscent of a deep south soul singer than a bubbly Amsterdammer, but her raw vocal power is undeniable, earning her millions of youtube hits and a global following.
