Claudio Puntin Sepiasonic


On 27 May Claudio Puntin & Insa Rudolph Sepiasonic will perform at the Muziekgieterij in Maastricht. The performance of Sepiasonic will be the second concert in a series of joint concerts of Jazz Maastricht and the Muziekgieterij.

Characterizing for the band is the unique sound of three flute musicians who transfer the compositions in a velvet harmony. Besides normal musical instruments as percussion, cello, guitar and clarinet, Puntin uses a lot of so called ‘toys’ as well which create an even more unique sound e.g. megaphones, a pocket harp, a toy piano and an instrument especially developed by Claudio Puntin: the zischboard.
The international formation of Sepiasonic was founded in 2007 by clarinet player Claudio Puntin and singer Insa Rudolph. The aim of this octet is to perform their creative songs, imbedded by unusual tunes and sounds which are fully acoustically generated. 

The tunes of Claudio Puntin are very suitable for electronic books and movie soundtracks. His music is already to be heard in the enchanting German movies "Jenseits der Stille" and "Pünktchen und Anton". He also connected his musical art to the electronic book of Orhan Pamuks “Rot ist mein Name” and “Die Vermessung der Welt” met Sepiasonic.  

The singer Insa Rudolph, who has studied jazz singing in Amsterdam, is familiar with theater and movies.  She wrote the title song for the comedy “Das wahre Leben” and together with Claudio Puntin she wrote the music for the Swiss production “Soundless Wind Chime”. At the moment she is working on her debut album which will be released half way this year.
